How do I download and save programs to use with Greyhound Wizard ?

When the program was loaded, several sub-directories with track names were created that can be used to store your downloaded programs. May use these if you wish, however, they are not requirement.

 

Here is a list of the valid track abbreviations

 

BH - Birmingham

CL – Cloverleaf

CC – Corpus Christi

DP – Dairyland Park

SP – Derby Lane

DB – Daytona Beach

DQ - Dubuque

EB – Ebro

GL – Geneva Lakes

HO – Hollywood

JA – Jacksonville

JC – Jefferson County

MH – Mile High

NF – Naples

OP – Orange Park

PB – Palm Beach

PH – Phoenix

SL – Southland

SS – Shoreline Star

TP – Tampa

TS – Tri-State

WD – Wheeling Downs

 

MM is the month of the program that you’re downloading. Example 04, 07, 11.

DD is the day of the program that you’re downloading. Example 04, 07, 11

YY is the year of the program that you’re downloading, Example 04

AP / EP is the program’s performance, you will only use one or the other. AP for Afternoon or Matinee, EP for Evening.

.txt is the file extension

 

Valid examples: CC040804AP.txt, DB040804EP.txt

4.1 Downloading Racing Programs from Track Websites

We’ve added the capability to download racing programs from a few select sites which is new to Version 2.1. Please use these instructions for the following sites:

1.       Scroll down the page till you find he programs with the .HTM extension

2.       Move your mouse over the program that want to use and right click on that link

3.       Click on "Save Target as"

4.       Click on the Save button

5.       Close Browsers

    1. The link above will take you directly to the text files, (.txt). Find the date and performance that you wish to download. Files start with a SO- followed by the month, date, and performance, X for Matinee, E for Evening.
    2. Right Click on the program, and Save as, and window will popup, and then click on the save button.
    3. Close browsers.

    3. From the listing, find the Date and Performance that you want, then click on the text option icon. The racing program will pop up in a new window.
    4. From the menu bar, click on FILE  then SAVE AS.  Under the File Name delete everything that is in that box and then type in DQmmddyyap/ep. DQ is for the track, mm is for the month, ie 08 for August, dd is for the date such as 05, yy is for the date 02, ap/ep is the performance, use ap for afternoon or matinee, or ep for evening. Here are some valid file names: DQ080207ep  DQ111507ap
    5. Under the Save as Type please change that to Text file
    6. Click on the Save button
    7. Close browsers

 

    1. Click on the Program and Results Tab
    2. Click on the Text Files Option

    4. From the menu bar, click on FILE  then SAVE AS.  Under the File Name delete everything that is in that box and then type in PBmmddyyap/ep. SP is for the track, mm is for the month, ie 08 for August, dd is for the date such as 05, yy is for the date 02, ap/ep is the performance, use ap for afternoon or matinee, or ep for evening. Here are some valid file names: SP080207ep  SP111507ap
    5. Under the Save as Type please change that to Text file
    6. Click on the Save button

    7. Close browsers, you no longer need to convert this file to a text file, Greyhound Wizard does it for you.

    8. Click on the Save button
    9. Close browsers
    1. Use the ‘R” under the Text File Column
    2. Right Click on the “R” icon of the date you wish to use,
    3. From the Calendar, right click on the R of the Date and Performance that you want.
    4. Click on "Save Target as".
    5. A file dialog box with then pop-up and you can select which directory to save the program in. Please remember             the location where you save the file.

 

Please remember where you saved the file. USE THE FOLLOWING FORMAT WHEN SAVING GWOPDDA. In the example above we are saving the program from the afternoon of the 10th. GWOP10A.  If this was an evening program it would be GWOP10E

 

7. Close browsers, you no longer need to convert this file to a text file, Greyhound Wizard does it for you.

Why can't I download Greyhound Wizard from the website ?

Sorry, but the install package is too big to have it download from the website, over 8MB. We felt it was easier to distribute on CD.

How do I install Greyhound Wizard Software ?

Requirements:

WIN 98/2000/ME/NT/XP - 64MB RAM - 10MB Disk Space, CD-ROM A connection to the Internet is required to use this program. This program was designed to use with Internet Explorer exclusively

Place CD in tray, and run Setup.exe, then follow the on-screen prompts.

You may have to re-boot your computer during the installation process. If requested to do so, please re-boot, and then run Setup.exe from the installation disk. The program should complete it install.

NOTE*** If during the installation of the program you receive a message saying,

"A file being copied is not newer than the file currently on your system. It is recommended that you keep your existing file. Do you want to keep this file?"

Always answer yes to that question.

Please consult the ManualVersion21.rtf file the come with the installation disk for further information. It maybe opened with Wordpad, or MS Word.
